Bailout bondsmen

The wars against Afghanistan & Iraq where waged by a Christian US President, fighting for Christians against Islamic terror, yet in the US, the Christian sentiment is dead.

Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.

In the US the 2008-2009 TARP bailout program was funded at $700 billion, although much of this has been paid back, the cost of the program will probably still be in the region of $30 billion.

But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt.

Despite these bailouts & a $75 billion dollar incentive program to get banks to renegotiate repayment plans on mortgages, banks refused to incur any losses & in 2009 a record 918 000 homes were repossessed, a 6.5% increase on the previous year. At the end of that year, more than 1 million homes where in the process of foreclosure.

When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.

The Occupy movement has taken the US by storm, with people trying to get their elected government to protect the citizens it is sworn to protect from any foreign or domestic threat.
& many others.

Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.

The US government has allowed banks to do as they please, repossessions continue.

The Obama Campaign in the 2009 US election collected a record $750 million dollars in campaign finance.

The US is no longer a democracy, it is a Dollarcracy, where those who have the money, matter, & those who don’t, don’t.

There is no 99%, just the 1%.

“In God we trust”

Note: in my post #occupyOccupy, I made fun of the movement, this is because it clearly is not working.

  1. Firstly… I’ll always claim that democracy is a myth. Votes have always been bought or cheated, one way or another, for as long as I can think.

With an obvious overall problem the banks should have taken a step back, realised that they weren’t gooing to be doing any real good in forclosing on all those homes, the longer they sit unoccupied, the more they’ll lose in the long run anyhow. Goverment should really have had a thing or two to say (as the biggest investor in those institutions at that time).

Obama’s got to be the most short sighted president the USA has ever seen, ironic as he’s one of the youngest. But a classic case of being part of that 1%? But isn’t that what the people voted for?

That said, I’m really all for making the money talk*, the fact is it has been the promise of fruits of labour (also called greed) that has made it possible to make most of our advancements (good or bad can be debated). Intensive farming, automobiles… telecomunications. All brought to the little guy because someone’s trying to make a buck.

Funny how that same buck is marked, “IN GOD WE TRUST”. Perhaps an unintentional statement, the buck is now the god that is trusted?

    *disclaimer: I’m far from rich.

    1. Unfortunately Americans have been voting for the 1% fpr years. Jimmy Carter was an unknown a year before he came to office, he attended a Bilderberger meeting, & a year later he was President.

Greece & Rome are said to have been the originators of Democracy, yet their democracy involved only the upper class vote. The system involved a senate who voted for the leader, the senate was composed of prominent members of society, who had money & land. This system is still around for examination today. In Rome the Pope (Ceasar) is voted for by the College of the Cardinals (senate). So as u point out democracy is a myth, it all comes down to those in power, staying in power.

The role of religion is obvious. Early Christianity presented a problem for Rome’s Empire building. Christians where not willing to bear arms on account of the teachings of Jesus, but Mithraism dominated amongst the ranks. In order to unite the empire, Constantine amalgamated the two into one religion that truly resembled neither. This religion had enough of both to keep most people happy, & by the Dark Ages & Crusades had become a true weapon.

By having “for God & country” on the dollar bill, the Evangelical Religious Right will leap at any opportunity to rush of & kill Japs; Koreans; Viet Kong or Muslims. By keeping people such as Obama & Bush (both church goers) in power, the illusion remains that the US is working for God.
