Numbers 34 – 36
So Numbers come to an end, and I still owe you a post on population growth, I’ve done the research, just haven’t put the post together yet. There was a bit more to discuss than I initially thought. I will get the post done and out soon.
Sorry for missing the last couple of days, prepared a sermon on Friday night and last night I did the reading, but didn’t do the post. Hopefully people have used the opportunity to catch up a bit.
The last three chapters of Numbers are preparation for conquering the promised land. The Conquest is still a book away, in Joshua, mean time, Deuteronomy covers Moses last work before his death and Joshua’s succession.
The last three chapters give division and boundaries of the land and how it should be distributed, the law regarding cities of refuge, their use and punishment for murder, and a bit about how the issue of inheritance of female heirs will be dealt with, which does seem somewhat strange, but I suppose it was the simplest way to deal with the land belonging to certain tribes being retained within those tribes.
What are your thoughts?
Please give the reading through the Bible page a look if you haven’t already, there are some background posts and the index to this reading plan. Share it with others who you think can benefit from Reading the Bible.
